Age gracefully

Do you know that you can age gracefully and live longer?

With some simple and natural anti-aging strategies, you can age gracefully and stay healthy, happy and mentally sharp for years to come.

Here are the natural ways that you can add to your regimen:

1. Take care of your brain with sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatoes are nature`s top source of beta-carotene, a nutrient that cuts your risk of brain aging and related troubles like stroke and dementia, by 45%.

As Canadian Researchers explain, beta-carotene nourishes and energizes brain nerves, plus it prevents plaque buildup inside brain blood vessels. According to a study-proven dose, you can have sweet potatoes at least one-half cup daily.

2. Take care of your heart with shrimp.

Eating 18 oz of shrimp, salmon, steelhead trout or another pink-colored fish or seafood weekly could cut your risk of heart disease as much as 50%, according to a study I read in the journal Marine Drugs.

It is because these seafoods has what you call astaxanthin,a pinkish pigment which will keep your blood vessels young, healthy and relaxed. So, you are far less likely to develop high blood pressure or clogged arteries, says the co-author of the journal Dr. Rob Fasset.

3. Take care of your youth with avocado.

The secret to looking at least three years younger and having 50% more vim and vigor than other folks your age is eating one-half of an avocado daily!

Washington University scientists recently discovered that a compound in avocados (nicotinamide mononucleotide) turns back the clock on skin health, helps convert food into fuel and assists proteins that inhibit the effect of genes that promote aging.

4. Take care of your hormones with daily walks.

Exercise prods your brain to make human growth hormone (HGH), and anti-aging compound that rejuvenates skin, heart, muscles, bones and other tissues.

This was shown in a study in The Journal of the American Medical Association which found that 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily cuts the risk of premature aging as much as 40%.

So, include a few minutes of intense activity in your daily workout, like trotting up stairs or walking briskly, and you will enjoy even bigger anti-aging benefits.

5. Take care of your body with anti-inflammatory spices.

Do you know that enjoying a meal spiced with a pinch of chili powder, red pepper flakes, or jalapenos just once a week cuts your risk of serious illnesses and premature aging by 10%? Making that spiced meal 4 times, then you will cut your risk as much as more than 20%! This is reported by the British Medical Journal.

Capsaicin, the active ingredient in hot spices, reduces production of inflammatory compounds that age tissues!

This is good news especially for those people that loves spices!

6. Take care of your cells with some multivitamins.

You really don`t need to take a very expensive pill to put the brakes on aging. A good quality multivitamin will do the trick, as mentioned by the Harvard University Researchers.

The balanced blend of nutrients in a multi switches on enzymes that repair and replace aging tissues, adding up to eight years of great health to your life if you take one multivitamin daily.

A Purdue University study found that chatting weekly with a friend who makes you feel upbeat can add 12 years of great health to your life!

People with active, happy social lives ( mind you, just once-a-week will do!) produce 33% less of the body-aging stress hormone cortisol.

  3. These are great tips! I am already walking and eating avocados frequently but not aware of the anti-aging benefits. I definitely need to eat more sweet potatoes for my brain! My social life could use some work, too. I’m very content to stay home and do quiet things by myself but I do feel better when I make a point of spending time with people once in a while. I should probably set a goal of purposefully enjoying “people time” at least two/three times each week.
